ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019 – 20

The vision of Santa Maria Public School & junior College is to impart quality education and inculcate spiritual as well as social values and enrich the mind to cope with emotions. The school provides the opportunity for the creation of an authentic citizen with excellent character and manifestation of various skills existing in the child

 

School reopening

The activities of the school for this academic year are started on 6th June 2019, with showers of blessings from the Almighty God.  The welcoming words of Rev. Fr. Augustin Ponganamthadam , the manager and Fr.thomas Antony Plathottathil, the Principal aroused an inspiration among teachers and students of Santa maria.

 

Merit Day

On 7th June 2019 school merit day was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Joseph Puthuparambil , our founder manager and congratulated all the students who secured highest marks in Xth and XII the board 2018 – 2019.  The meeting honoured Kum. Arya R Nair, formar student of Santa Maria , who got remarkable achievement in  Civil Service Examination 2018 – 2019.  Prof. P C Aniyankunju, former principal, St. Alogious Colleve Edatua delivered key note for the parents.  The meeting was felicitated by our former manager Fr. Joseph Mulavana.

 

Result 2019

A proud and outstanding result with 100 % was achieved from LKG to Xth Standard.  Class Xth and XII th  results of the school prove without any doubt that our students have made us proud.  Edwin Mathew and Christin Issac of Class XII and  Liya Shaji of Class X secured A1 in all subjects .In class XII,45% of students got above 90%.In class X,out of 57 students 30% of students got above 90%and 60% of students got distinction.

Special congratulation for Edwin Mathew who won certificate of merit from CBSE for being the 0.1% outstanding result in the all India level for the subject  XII Economics.

 

Teaching and non-teaching Staff

Santa Maria has a strength of 750 students with 38 teaching staffs and 12 non- teaching staffs.  I am extending the extreme happiness to Prof. M K Joseph Meledath, our academic director & T O Joseph Thuppalanjiyil HOD of Malayalam to rendering their voluntary service to sharpen the vision of Santa Maria.  Smt. Jaya Jose is selected as the staff secretary during this academic year.

Ample opportunities were provided for the teacher to refresh their knowledge and skill.  Our teachers participated in various orientation programs conducted by CBSE and Sahodaya.  The dedicated and sincere hard work of all the teaching and non teaching staff help a lot in the smooth functioning of the school.

 

Parent Teacher Association

We are glad that the parents of our children are giving us whole hearted co-operation and support to the school activities.  First PTA meeting for various classes were conducted between 14th june and 18th June and 25 executive members are selected from each class.  Among them Mr. Shaiju John as the president, Mrs. Iby Binu as the Vice President and Mrs. Jaya Jose as the secretary were selected.  PTA open houses were conducted after every exam and analyze the academic achievements of students.

 

School Parliament

School election was done on 20th June 2019 through secret ballot system.  Master Alosious Joboy and Elsa Mariam Manoj of Class X were selected as Head Boy and Head Girl.  Mrs. Jaya Jose took the charge of school parliament section.

 

Extra Curricular Activities

Extra Curricular Activities are conducted by special instructors on all Wednesday to enhance the talents of students in dance, music, Keyboard, painting, Kalari, karate, and Yoga.  In the state level karate master cup 2019 held on 16th November our stars participated and won prizes.  The winners are Rayos manual-VI, Alta Mathew – IX, Agnus Rose Mathew – IX, Suryakiran S Rajeev – VII, Midhun Baiju – VII, Parthan D Nair – V, Devanand P – V, and Vasudev – VIII.  Congratulations to all sincere thanks to all the ECA teachers Mr. Santhosh K G (Karatte), Mr. Nidheesh V (Kalari), Biju C T (Inst. Music), Mr. Emmanual Joseph (Yoga), Mr. Ramachandran P K (Drawing), Mrs. Babitha Manaz, (Dance) Mrs.Sylamma Scaria (Music).

 

Epista  

The school conducted a quiz competition named EPISTA throughout the year in six series under the leadership of Mrs. Nishamol M G, Maya Vijayan and Monse Claries Joy.  Following were the winners of different section.

Lower Section :  Master Emmanuel Mathew (V)

Middle Section :  Annu Maria Sebastian (VIII)

Higher Section :  Aleena Anna Biju (XI)

 

Reading Competition

Reading competition and quiz were held in all classes in Malayalam and prizes were distributed to class wise winners.  Special congratulations to our students who were selected for district level reading competition Joseph Priyesh, Elba Sara Saju, Aleesha Sony, Erin Siby, Preyas Biju and Ajin Sam.  Special thanks to TO Josephsir, Anitha Rajan & Preethy K Sivaram for encouraging them.

 

Achievements in Sports and Games

Santa Marian Volley Ball team shows remarkable performance in this year also.  Our senior boys and girls team and Junior girls team won 1st Prize in Sahodya Volleyball match held in Warwin School, Vaikom.  Our Junior boys also won 2nd prize in this match.

Santa Marian Volleyball team participated in state level volleyball tournament held at Bhavan’s VAruna Ernakulam, Senior Boys won 1st Prize and got the chance to participate the national level tournament held at Indoor, Madhya Pradesh.  Junior girls won 3rd prize in state level competition.

Our students showed remarkable performance in athletics also.  Out of 40 school participated we got 4th overall position and 17 individual prizes.  7 athletes participated in state level athletics held at Pragathi Academy, Ernakulam. We participated in state level football championship also.  Special congratulations for Abin George Shibu(XI), Eric Siby(VII), Liss Maria Joseph(IX), Dona Varghese(XI), Doyal Tom Binu(X) and Melbin C Binoy(XI) who won individual prizes.

 

Club Activities 

In order to develop the creative skills personal values and leadership qualities of the students we have 9 clubs which are working at the expectations of the motto of the clubs.

Major events and celebrations

On 26th June a special assembly was conducted by XI students for International day against drug abuses.  Students conducted a flash mob and mime against drug abuses.  On 6th September Teachers day and Onam together celebrated.  Arts and sports competitions were held on 24th and 29th September for the students to exhibit and improve their talents in various items.  Kindergarten fest and children’s day was celebrated separately on 14th November 2019.

 

Picnic & study tour

Picnics and study tour were arranged section wise to get a pleasurable diversion.  Class XI & IX student had a study tour to Goa, Class Vth to XIIth students to dream world, IInd to IVth classes to Alapuzha  & KG and Class I students enjoyed a day in play world Ettumanoor.

 

On December 1st due to the personal inconvenience and considering the major responsibility as the vicar of the Devamatha Church, Pampady our former principal Rev. Fr. Thomas Plathottam is relieved from his duty as a principal.  Mrs. Sabitha Jose has been appointed as the new principal and Mr. Johnson Philipose as the Vice Principal.  I extend my sincere thanks to Fr. Thomas Antony Plathott athil, our former Principal for his valuable and dedicated service to the school.

 

Let me conclude the report with the memory of the dedicated service and determination of the founder Manager Rev. Dr. Joseph Puthuparambil, Former managers ,Rev Fr. Joseph Mulavana, Rev. Fr. Scaria Srambical .It is the right time to honour the dedicated service of Sri. James Jacob Adackamundackal, the secretary of Santa Maria Educational Society.  I admire the whole hearted support of our Manager Rev. Fr. Augustine Ponganamthadam, Vice Principal Mr. Johnson Philipose, members of Managing Committtee , PTA president, PTA executives, Parents, dedicated teaching & non teaching staffs and well wishers in fulfillment of the vision of Santa Maria.  May God bless you all..
