“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” Santa Maria School aims not only at intellectual growth of a student but also the physical as well as the aesthetic qualities. An age of white collar job is not an essential need in today’s computer world. A wide range of facilities are provided to the students and these qualities are acquired when they show their excellence in the fields of dance, music, art, crafts and games. The school has and offers a wide range of extra curricular activities which enable the students to bring out their hidden potentialities to the limelight and to be projected in a world where ‘reality shows’ are crises crossing the country.
Activities
Dance
Dance education aids the development of kinesthetic intelligence. It creates opportunities for self-expression and communication within the constraints of the medium of the body. It teaches the values and skills of creativity, problem solving, risk taking, making judgments in the absence of rules, and higher-order thinking skills. Dance enhances an individual’s lifelong quality of life.
Vocal Music
Vocal Music has been an integral and inseparable part of civilized human life. Basically, music is a means of establishing communion for an individual with his Creator. At same time music is also one of the finest means of artistic communication with fellow human beings.
Instrumental Music
Instrumental music is a derived form of music. It is perhaps the finest extrapolation of the creative and inner urges of the artist and musical composer. In point of fact there is such a deep complimentary between vocal and instrumental music that it is impossible to visualize any musical performance without both of them existing together.
Art and Craft
To enable students to engage with and explore visual and other sensory experiences and how to recognise and communicate ideas and meanings. These opportunities enable them to work with traditional and new media, so that they develop confidence, competence, imagination and creativity.
Volleyball
Regular exercise is crucial for your health because it helps keep your heart in good working order, as well as helping to prevent illnesses and diseases. Playing volleyball on a regular basis is one way to increase your physical activity level, which will help you get fit and toned, as well as healthy and energetic.
Sports & Games
Provide an opportunity to release pent-up energy. While academic success is no small feat, students who participate in at least one extracurricular physical activity are proven to reap more benefits
Karate
Offers many benefits for students. Improved physical fitness, superior mind-body coordination, and self-discipline are just some of the characteristics of a martial art practitioner
Yoga
Yoga is the practice of accessing and integrating all aspects of our true nature — body, mind, and spirit — in the pursuit of inner harmony.
Kalari
To train the children to get concentration and fast movements of the hands, legs and the whole body. Holding up our culture and our precious tradition our ‘Kalari’ co-curricular activity is progressing by Almighty’s grace.
Scout
